CTGA.education Presents Fused Glass Workshops

2 HOUR WORKSHOP 

2 hour workshops are currently run at 2 venues, Stacked cafe Totnes and The Green Hub at Buckfast Abbey. 

You are provided with everything you need to decorate a piece of base glass to create either a hanging decoration or tealight. No cutting is required and all abilities catered for.  I take your pieces away to fire in the kiln and they will be ready for collection 7-10 days after your workshop.

4 HOUR WORKSHOP  

4 hour workshops are available and they are run in a home environment. These workshops centre around using a microwave kiln and you will get to see it working. Watch the glass go through the stages of melting and cooling, from solid, to liquid to solid again.

Learn all about what's required to fused glass in this brilliant kiln. 

You will be provided with all the glass you need to make at least 3 things and you'll learn to use all of the tools including cutting glass. 

Specialist glass, that isn't available in the 2 hour class, will also be available for you to use. 

This is perfect for a small group of 3 and is a private class for you and your friends or family.

More in depth course, 2 separate 4hr sessions to learn all about the microwave kiln, actually use it yourself along with all of the tools available.
All safety requirements and details on what you need to set up a home space.
Learn about grinding and fire polishing after cold work.
Learn about different glass. You will have the opportunity to create 4 projects learning different techniques, eg reactions with glass, glass inclusions with metals and using specialist glass like dichroic.

You may opt for one to be a larger project (not Dichroic) to be fired in my skutt hotstart largest electric kiln, it could be a piece you could place in a frame or an item that goes through 2 firings to 1st create and then slump in a mold on a 2nd firing.  This could be a free standing design or other options available.
These sessions will give you all the know-how to be able to use a microwave kiln in your own setting safely. Plus create a larger piece for your glass collection.

Additional purchases can be made, for example, a sample pack of glass, a small microwave kiln and tools, all this can be discussed before the workshop to ensure there is enough time to order them in.

At all home (Paignton) workshops, hot and cold drinks are provided. Lunch can be brought with you as fridge and microwave facilities are available.

6 WEEK COURSE

I am looking to do a 6 week course on a regular basis to teach glass fusing in a microwave kiln and my larger kiln, skutt hotstart pro.  With at least 6 projects over that time you will learn many techniques in the art of glass fusing  I will also cover safety and all tools that are used. 

All materials will be provided for the course, however there will be other materials available to buy to even further enhance your work.

I am able to provide 2 hour workshops to a number of types of groups if there is a room that can be used. I only need a table, chairs and people to come.
